The dropping of both bombs, "Fat Man" and "Little Boy", was fully justified and here is the evidence to prove it:
This website contains a first hand interview between Spiegel Online, and a historian named Richard Rhodes. The interview explains how the large amount of Japanese that were killed due to the dropping of the bomb would have equaled the same amount of American deaths in future battles. Richard Rhodes supports the dropping of the Atomic Bomb and believes it was fully justified.
This Video shows an interview which took place after the dropping of the bomb. The interviewees are the crew that bombed Japan from the "Enola Gay" and "Necessary Evil". Each of the crew members gave a speech explaining the dropping of the bomb. Each and every man is ecstatic with the bombing and one explains that he doesn't know how to divvy up the credit.
This letter was a warning sent out to the Japanese Empire from the US. The letter states that the US has possession of an atomic bomb stronger than any bomb man has ever devised. Then, the letter states that the bomb is larger that the amount of explosive force that 2000 B29's could carry in one mission. The US then allows Japan to make the decision to surrender, and even after reading the threatening letter, Japan fights on.
Before the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan, Truman gave a speech informing the people of America about what was about to happen. By now, the president has already made the decision to drop the bomb and by listening to his speech we see exactly why dropping the bomb is justified. The President states how strong the bomb is and warns us of the damage it will cause and everyone is for it.
Many people began to file complaints about the bombing and voiced their opinions about how they believed the bombing was unjustified and unlawful. Finally, a telegram reached Truman which expressed hatred towards the people of America for doing such a thing to Japan. In response, Truman sent this telegram which explains that the bombing was only an act of treating the enemy in the only way which they will respond.
"There were those who considered that the atomic bomb should never have been used at all. I cannot associate myself with such ideas… I am surprised that very worthy people—but people who in most cases had no intention of proceeding to the Japanese front themselves—should adopt a position that rather than throw this bomb we should have sacrificed a million American and a quarter of a million British lives..."
The atomic bomb ended war and saved not only potentionally millions of Americans lived but also hundreds of thousands of Britsh lives. The British were our allies in all of World War II and dropping the atomic bomb saved many lives for their country. Although we killed thousands of innocent Japanese lives in the bombing of Hiroshima as well as Nagasaki but we would have lost just as much if not more American and British lives had the bomb not been dropped.
